  YUM's Founder & "TOP DOG" Shadow (pictured left with some freshbaked YUM) was adopted from Kenosha's Humane Society in 1998.  She LOVED her daily treats, but her human mom wasn't loving the ingredients in them...  Many attempts were made to come up with homemade treats containing wholesome ingredients.  Shadow watched many experiments get tossed in the trash, lived through several badly burned batches, was disappointed when most of the attempts weren't edible...still, she NEVER gave up hope.  She would sit in a chair right by the oven listening for the timer,  patiently waiting for sampling time.  The only thing that kept Shadow's mom from giving up was the always expectant look on Shadow's face...  Not wanting to disappoint her, the experimenting continued on...   Several weeks later, Shadow tasted a treat still warm from the oven and (much to her mom's surprise) said "YUMmm"!  Later, Shadow's mom wondered... if the treats were good enough to make Shadow say "YUMmm", would other dogs like them?  Soon after, the treats were being donated to local area bake sales to help raise money for homeless pets---word spread fast, more and more pet parents began requesting the treats and YUM DOG COOKIES was officially a business by 2003!!
